The Family Gwinnett and Snellville City Council

Sunday, June 18, 2023 - Leader and philanthropist, Forrest Tuff, CEO of One Vision Production was recognized by The Family Gwinnett and the Snellville City Council as a Gwinnett Black Man of Distinction and recipient of the S.U.N.S. Award. The award honors businessman, civic leaders, and law officials that have shown excellence in business, consistent leadership, and contributions to shaping Gwinnett’s History. The event took place at the Snellville Town Green, 2437 Main St. SE Snellville, GA. 30078 from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. 

The Family Gwinnett and City Councilwoman Solange Destang of Snellville hosted their second Annual Juneteenth event.  The event featured black-owned business and elected officials in Snellville and a program highlighting and recognizing our Black Men and Fathers of Distinction. The theme is Sire, Up and Coming, Nobleman and Sage (S.U.N.S.).

About City Councilwoman Solange Destang

Born in the Netherlands to a St. Lucian father, and a Surinamese mother, Solange is well versed is seven languages. After becoming a U.S citizen, she decided to relocate to Snellville, from Florida in 2006, where she has used her knowledge and background as an immigrant to broaden her perspective into other cultures.  She is currently the first woman of African descent to win a seat at Snellville City Council.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Deriving its name from combining June and nineteenth, it is celebrated on the anniversary of the order by Major General Gordon Granger proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in Texas on June 19, 1865.
